Bruce Sterling in London

I saw Bruce Sterling tonight along with a friend of mine from my MSc. He was talking over at UCL on Malet Place.

Sterling is a great speaker. You can definitely tell that he's a writer and a futurist. He started his talk on the future of RFID with a brief literature review. Works included:

Greenfield's Everywhere, RFID: Applications, Security, and Privacy edited by Garfinkle and Rosenberg. And of course Bleeker's Manifesto of Networked Objects, Morville's Ambiant Findability and Albrecht's Spychips. And lastly, Sterling's own Shaping Things.

One of the best quotes of the night was this one on predicting the future (and I'm paraphrasing):

The best way to predict the future is to tell them things that have already happened that they didn't know about

Update: 19 July
